Aloha e Alika! I hope your warm and enjoying yourself as you learn more about the hula. I hope to meet you one day. Look at the SoCal Festival topic in the Performance forum. One page three there is a link to photos of the concert with Makana playing over the slide show. It is a nice little piece of the show. |

Aloha e Kaniala! Pehea 'oe i keia la? Unfortunately, ma'i au. 'A'ole e hele ana au i ke kula i keia la. I also stayed at my hale two days ago.
Anyways, hula has been so much fun! As some of you already know, I've already learned 12 steps:
1. kaholo 2. holo palua 3. holo mua 4. holo hope 5. holo he'e 6. holo he'e i lalo 7. holo he'e i luna 8. hela 9. hela lohi 10. hela palua 11. uwehe 12. ami
If anyone has any questions about terminology that my teacher uses, please let me know, and I can describe the step(s) to you. I can't wait for my third lesson this Sunday.
E Kaniala e, I hope to meet you too! Ever come out to my area? We've been to CA before and might go back. IDK. |

Aloha e Alika! I have never been to the East Coast but I have in-laws in Connecticut. My brother and sister in-law where there for X-Mas. They had fun. The only set back was their airport got snowed in and they had to go to an alternate airport to fly back home to Kaliponi.
Sounds like hula is really working well for you.........:-) |

It is!
Similarly, on our most recent trip to Hawai'i Nei, my 'ohana and I made the mistake of flying into Chicago and then going to Boston. We got stuck there for about six or seven hours, going from gate to gate just to find out that all of the available flights were canceled. Luckily, that evening, we flew into Hartford and then drove to Boston, got our car, and drove home. It was about 1:00 AM by the time we got in and I had to go to school the next day, but the good news was that we didn't have to be at the Chicago airport until Tuesday like some of the people there did.
