Go to the classifieds if you're interested in this guitar.

I've seen and played this guitar. It is SWEET.
(I have been forced to take BEANO for my GAS)

GAS=Guitar Acquisition Syndrome
BEANO=Bubba's Emasculating And Nutcracking Oil

My wife dispenses that BEANO regularly. Too bad for her she'd run out of it the day I signed up for winter aloha camp.
I have a similar guitar, would not think of selling it, I think. Wassamatta wid yours?

If I remember correctly, Chunky has another guitar that he regularly brings to the weekly Open Mic, a grand acoustic size cutaway with electronics. It has a really sweet sound and he tunes it mostly to F Taropatch and uses medium strings.

The same string setup on the jumbo does not give him the sound and playability he is looking for and (because it is a jumbo size) places his right arm at a position that is different than what he is used to. The Maple back and sides of this jumbo give it a bright sweet sound and the jumbo size gives some extra bass boost. There is nothing wrong with the jumbo - Chunky is just looking for something different. I can tell you that he has been agonizing over this decision for several months bringing it to Open Mic to play and compare to the other guitars we play. I think he has been visiting Buffalo brothers and has his eyes on another guitar closer to what he has in his mind is the perfect slack key guitar for him.

Karl, you are a much larger man than Chunky and I and so the jumbo size "fits" you better.

It'a a beautiful guitar and has the best neck and action I've ever seen. It's just more difficult for me to play sitting down. I'm a shrimp.

Shrimp?!! You are a perfectly adequately sized human, perhaps even somewhat larger than many of us (me). Jumbos are hard on the arms and shoulders of normal sized primates (except gorillas).

A lady I used to see at jams claimed that guitars were built wrong for women's anatomy. She felt the neck should attatch to the opposite end of the body, to give clearance for"those T'ings" that were interfering with her holding her guitar. She usually played hammered dulcimer;not sure if that was the reason

Paul,
quote:
those T'ings

Are really good noise dampening devices and cushions.
besides, they usually "push" the guitar out so you can see the strings you are playing. Us male species have to create a "beer gut" to naturally do the same 'ting. I think the female version are more attractive.

You can see Terry's guitar in this link: http://www.taropatch.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6144.

If it fit my anatomy better, I'd buy it myself, It's a real cannon.

I also had a problem with big guitars, not because my female anatomy was an obstacle, but I'm just a petite person. Dennis Lake finally built me a guitar which is just perfect for my dimensions, and it sounds fantastic to boot! The steel, of course is also good because women are accustomed to holding things in their laps. (Babies)

(oooeeeh, is that politically incorrect or what?)

"If Wahine tunings get the name for a reason, are there Kane tunings?"
I don't think that is a politically incorrect thing to say.
Thank God that men and women are different. Life is much more interesting.

Back to topic, you can play a jumbo guitar (like Terry's here) in the classical position and it is not uncomfortable.
