Shirley and I have installed a new web cam with a nice view of Kailua Bay...
For some of you, this may help... for others, it may just make it worse.

Maybe we see No`eau when he go Big Island to visit his daughter. Sure makes me want to get out of this white and gray world over heare on the North Coast. Today I went driving (hooray!) on the freeway next to Lake Erie and the wind was blowing water across the road and makiing for treacherous ice all over the road all of a sudden whilst driving 60 mph on the road. Makes for getting the heart pumping a bit faster than I would have cared for. Almost as bad as getting $200,000 in charges from the hospital.

Thanks for sharing the beauty of na Moku Keawe, Konabob. It is beauty worth sharing.

Hey if I see with No'eau wandering around on the Big Island we will wave to you all from the camera. I am now in official countdown hysteria! 9 days and I am On The Big Island HORRAY! Maybe I can make a sign and leave it on the wall for all to see

At 6 AM CST, it has a nice image of newspaper boxes along the street and a light pole (1 AM Kona time). Not really appealing or Hawaiian!

Guess for some of us just knowing what is on the other side of those newspaper boxes is enough and that sting of lights you see in the distance is the dock streching out into the bay.
For myself I try to check in around sunrise and sunset . Konabob has done an amazing job with the camera and I am thrilled to get this small dose of Kona when ever I need it most even in the middle of the night.

Looks like the cruise ship is hanging around out there. When we went, it made for rough riding to tender to Kona.

Isn't that where the heiau is right by the dock?

And also -- is that where they make "grafitti" on the lava fields with white coral? Does anyone know about the origins of that "tradition"?

Yes, Wanda, the very tip of the pier is visible on the right side of the picture. A small beach right beside Hulehee Palace is visible on the left side of the picture. The old tree is a Morton Bay Fig which was planted in 1798 by a visiting British sea captain. There are a few coconut trees visible just past the pier. These are located on the grounds of the Kamehameha Beach Hotel.
