I thought it would be fun to show and see some great guitar players that are not widely famous and that play different sytyles of music. Whether it is slack key from Led, or someone from another genre, genious is genious right? Here are a few that I like that did not make the "Rolling Stone best 100" List. All play in altered tunings.
Don Ross--two time fingerstyle champion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ip111lXjDSs
Andy McKey--fingerstyle/harp guitarist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvar4ZsqsEo
Erick Turnbull: fingerstyle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fne0RH4SRiY
Anyone have clips of great unknow guitar players that did not make the list--slack or not? The idea here is players we may not have heard of in this group.

http://www.youtube.com/v/-Xlfe-f5nME&rel=1 Here's Stanley Jordan. He's not as good as Blind Blake, or Mississippi John Hurt, but he has great concentration. Paul Paul |

Michael Chapdelaine is way swell! Wow! Onliest thing -- in the lyrics to "Come Together"...what does it all mean? Makes no sense to me. Toe Jam? Ju-ju eyeballs? Is this an example of a song written when someone was medicated for recreational purposes? |

'Ju Ju eyeballs' - yes that's Mr John Lennon. He might well have been on the recreational pharmaceuticals when he wrote that. Mind you, in the 60s, a lot of people were writing nonsense lyrics even when they were stone cold sober, so you never know.
Honky Tonk Women was written in Taropatch - more or less. Keef Richards uses the G Taropatch tuning a lot of the time, and has done since the 70s (he doesn't call it that, I don't expect) but he removes the bottom D string. |

Lennon lost a lawsuit over copywrite infringement in Come Together. Seems a phrase in the song was lifted from one of Chuck Berry's songs. I believe it was the part about "Old Flattop, groovin up slowly." Paul |
