Try listen Hula o Makee on this CD and see if you know who the artists are? They've got a nice harmony, but Auntie Maria's web site says unknown for that mele. Seems to me its gotta be somebody, and they need to be recognized and paid for it. http://www.mele.com/music/artist/darlene+ahuna/mele+hula+-+vol.+1+-+hawaiian+melody/
If Bill Wynne don't know, don't no body know.

Got that info when the CD press release was first issued (1998) -- and never checked for details when I got my demo. My bad!
Liner notes say musicians are: Daniel Akaka, Jr. - vocal, guitar Clyde Oshiro - vocal, nylon string guitar Wayne Francisco - acoustic electric bass Charles Recaido - guitar
There are 3 volumes of Mele Hula - Hawaiian Melody. The first one was released in conjunction with a book of the same title, filled with pictorials of the islands, as well as the lyrics and translations of the mele on this CD. Volumes #2 & #3 were subsequently added -- and all three are very popular with hula dancers and fans of Hawaiian music. |

Thanks, Auntie Maria. These have a great selection of mele, some done in interesting ways. I love the way they do "Kaulana Kawaihae" and "Kaua`i Beauty". |
