...and apparently, me: http://tw.youtube.com/watch?v=2wUNBaQRIJ4&feature=related
I was playing bass for a private party, but shifted to `ukulele so I could sing, as my kumu hula was teaching "Hukilau" (which always gets a little wacky...see if you can catch me singing about "inappropriate touching / at the hukilau" near the end). |

Wanda, I tried watching some of your posted videos but for some reason could not get the one I wanted to hear most (Makana: Ku'u Home o Kahalu'u) to work. Even a search produced several versions....but no Makana. Maybe I'm just YouTube-challenged. |

John - looks like they took the Makana thing away. Dunno what the heck. Now it says it is a "private" video and you can only watch it if invited by whoever it was that posted it.
Retro - cool to see you singing and playing. Was that the Oddah Guyz? |

No - the bass player is 'Pekelo' Palisbo - who also plays and teaches `ukulele & guitar (and was the driving force behind the creation of the Seattle `Ukulele Players Association); he was playing uke for most of the gig, and I was usually on bass. The steel guitarist is a woman whose name escapes me at the moment - she's from California, and is a good friend of the owner of that design facility. First and only time we had ever met was that night, and we had great fun playing together. As mentioned, my kumu hula (Gloria Napualani Fujii Nahalea) was teaching the dance, and she also played and sang with us some that night. |

Mahalo, Wanda. I'm sorry I missed it. I've always loved that song and it has held special meaning for me as I grew up in He'eia which is right next door to Kahalu'u. As young boys my brothers and I spent many days playing in those hills and catching o'opu in the mountain stream, as the song says! |
