Here's some more good news for the steel world. September 2008 sees a three day event taking place in Chanos-Curson, France. The dates are Friday 19th to Sunday 21st September. So if you want to play in France here's your chance. For more info go to: http://www.chanos-isgf.org
quote: Following up the original posting on the HSGA website by Lord Basil of Henriques, I'm glad to announce that the first Chanos International Steel Guitar Festival is officially launched. At last we have a formal organisation - Chanos ISGF - and a formal committee; these things take months to achieve in France. what with having to get local government approval and registration. We have a bank account, that's taken even longer to get. But most importantly, the Mayor loves the idea of of having the ISGF in his village - we're on a sure winner here.
The whole point of the ISGF is to promote the playing and appreciation of the steel guitar and steel guitar music, in Europe. There are very active steel guitar groups all over Europe and a bunch of enthusiasts in France (http://steelguitarfrance.forumactif.com/) who have been very supportive of the ISGF project. We want the annual ISGF to be a focal point of meeting for all these steelers. But we also want players from around the world to came along and grow the family.
Now that the the site http://www.chanos-isgf.org is fully up and running, we're touting for attendees. If you're planning to vacation in Europe this year why not include the ISGF in your itinerary? You can even book your place on line. We have one venue for Country and another for Hawaiian. If you need help with the language and booking accommodation just let us know and we will help. The coutryside is delightful with the Alps less than an hour away and the Med just over two; Syrah grapes and Croze-Hermitage wine - we'd love to see you.
Oh! yes - almost forgot - Basil will playing at the ISGF. Come along to hear him perform and, if you're lucky, maybe get growled at in person. Digby Hardy
"Growled at in Person" Really Digby what DO you mean !! I've mellowed nowadays and just purr loudly.. and occasionally scowl, but only when Pat's not looking.. As for the event, It WILL be fun, being as it's organized by none other than Elite Aloha Dream Member Digby Hardy and his good wife Chantal, most of our crowd are going :-
