I've bragged on this group's helpfulness in the article, so I might as well take advantage of the collective wisdom.
The AG piece isn't meant to be exhaustive but introductory and illustrative. The list below is extracted from the article, which includes portals (that is, sites with lots of links), general-background, artist, educational, and commercial sites. And it's supposed to be 1000 words tops, so it's already too long. But just in case there's something really important or nifty that I've omitted, here are the candidates--just before I have to cut about 500 words (and the sites that go with them).
Any suggestions? And thanks for your help.

Hey Russell,
To hell with the alphabet.......I would put Bob Brozman and Taro Patch at the top of the list......:)
The Commander has spoken. Seriously, thank you for the effort. We all benefit from printed exposure, and when the writer is one of US....... Makes it all the better.

Thanks for the suggestions, Andy--a couple had slipped my mind (or gotten misplaced in a 500K bookmark file), but I hadn't looked at Panther's list at all--it will fit nicely in the portals section. And I finally figured out why the Ron Loo link wasn't working: a period snuck into the URL, and with my trifocals, I had a devil of a time seeing it. With age comes presbyopia; wisdom is apparently optional.
And Commander, alphabetical order is just a wimp-out concession for the sidebar list of URLs; the sequence in the article itself will be much more exotic, based on my free associating and supplemented by an occasional coin-toss. Or maybe the decay of various exotic subatomic particles. I was considering randomizing all the letters in the file, but the last time I did that, I didn't get paid. Editor said he tossed a coin and I lost.

Russell,
As a longtime, sometime (I go away when it gets too vitriolic) observer of a.m.h newsgroup, the place is often a snake pit of rancor and has even led to legal actions. It is an alt ng, afterall, and it has local personal conflicts that are sometimes unbelievable. So, if you include it, you should warn the reader. Dropping it could reduce your wordcount, too :-0

Yeah, I've gone back and forth about including amh--at the moment it's in a coma, but I've seen plenty of those wretched slanging matches. On the other hand, it's about the only Hawaiian music newsgroup on Usenet, so my current draft has includes a warning. (Soc.culture.hawaiian seems to be dead, but it rarely covered music.)
