I am not seriously worked up about anything and I dont think anyone else is either. My earlier comments were from a "hurray for our side" moment that I had. Hey, lookin' out for my peeps, you know.

But one idea is begining to go the wrong way.
The injury thing is getting spun into something I did not say or want to imply. Seriously now folks, I do not enjoy the thought of players getting hurt. Truth be known, I like golf on TV the very most.
Now all you Rugby guys, get back to sipping your tea. LOL

Three things:

1) G.B. can have the mainland but Hawaiʻi will be sovereign and ruled by our OWN queen.

2) Concerning #6 - If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. (Think about it...)

3) Concerning #12 - Rugby is my favorite sport, 1,000x better than football. Most of the Pacific Islands play rugby so Hawaiʻi will have no problem fitting in.

Think I'll knit something today, like my daddy used to.

Which of course is why heavily armed countries like Afganistan, the Phillipines and Iraq are so safe.

(He said, stirring things up deliberately... Can't wait for the flame war on this one!!)

Wait, speaking of super macho sports... anyone for Afgan polo? It involves a dead sheep... and often dead players and spectators. And weren't they a former British, ummm, attempt?

If knitting were outlawed, only knitwits would have needles. Neener neener neener.

Mark (wouldn't want to disappoint you), ever been to that very old, very civil democracy Switzerland? Sarah and I have, and have seen very nice decent people walking around with guns of various sorts, including a very interesting 3 barrel one called a drilling - one .22, one shotgun, one .30 cal. A hunter must go to a special school for 3 years and pass a complex test. We read some of the texts. And every adult male must have an assault weapon and qualify regularly. A little noisy in Lauterbrunnen occasionally. In Die Schweiz, you can also see fighter planes emerge from holes in mountains. Very interesting.

1) I wasn't stirring things up deliberately, just simply giving my manaʻo, which is what is supposed to be done in these threads. Please don't put words in my mouth. I have a lot I could say concerning this topic, but I don't want to stir things up, so I'm not writing it.

2) Wasn't saying that Rugby was more macho, simply that I like it better.

Hard to imagine a more peaceful country that Switzerland- and indeed they do all have assault rifles in their closets. Canada also has a far higher per capita number of guns than the U.S., but only a tiny fraction of the gun crimes. Then just south, in Mexico, guns are illegal and very few people have one, but gun related violence is extreme.

Personally, I think it is cultural, not a matter of the laws a nation has.

No worries, Matt, et al. I was just having fun.

Believe me, I do not wish this forum to turn into a place to debate issues unrelated to Hawaiian music and culture. Forgive me if you thought I was putting words into your mouth... or any one else's for that matter.

I have actually played football (both kinds) and rugby. But that was a long, long time ago. All three are dandy ways to spend an afternoon. 'Fraid I haven't tried my hand at Afgan polo.

And, yes, I have spent time in Switzerland. Lovely country. Kinda like Disneyland with a standing army.

(Oh sh*t, now I've gone and offended all the Disneyland lovers out there...)

I'll give up my sense of humor when you pry my cold dead fingers off of the snigger...

I think the exact quote was " A gentleman is someone who knows how to play banjo, but refrains from doing so." Mark Twain
But now that the banjo jokes are unleashed, where will it end?
Q: What do you do when a banjo player comes to your door?
A: Pay for the pizza.
Paul

"A master banjo player isn't the person who can pick the most notes. It's the person who can touch the most hearts." Patrick Costello

I guess when it comes right down to it, most "sports" are pretty barbaric. It is still just a matter of who likes what. And, I am happy we all here like hawaiian music and culture, because it brings out the best in all of us.
MArk, you are a sniggering knitwit!
Whoops.
