That product is tooooooooo cool. Having the plug be RTAS and AU is a wonderful thing for Mac users. Mahalo for the info.

This would be great tool for fixing that one bad note in a otherwise good recording. But, think of all the bands posting music on the web. We may never know who can and who can't anymore.
Imagine if you regularly fixed up your recordings and then someone wanted you to play live.

I think it's only effective on SINGULAR instrument polyphonic material, within a mixed audio environment where there are multiple instruments involved it wouldn't be transparent.. it would change the pitch of all instruments playing that particular note..
So if the guitar had a wrong note in its chord and you changed it, the ukulele chord that was sitting with the guitar in the mix would have ITS correct note changed to a wrong one !! presuming they were in the same octave.
Only usable in a singular instrument mode.. i.e. before mixdown. |

This has been a "Holy Grail" for music note recognition for many years now. If this new system were workable then it could also easily do polyphonic transcription. I have a lot of experience in this realm and somehow I do not think it works quite as reliably and cleanly as they indicate. Not only would it be limited to a singular instrument, but it is probably quite sensitive to the kind of instrument as well (some are much harder than others).
However, it might still be a very useful tool even if it could not fix 100% of bad notes. A useful transcriber probably needs to correctly interpret more than 95% of the notes/soundings, while a correction thing like this can be quite useful if it can only fix a single note in a chord 80% of the time.
I will take a wait and see attitude on this one (yeah, like I'm from Missouri) and find out how some early adopters fare with it.

I agree with you Lawrence. Also, the price point will be a factor. As the recording engineer or producer, maybe I should hear it while it's being recorded and have it replayed or punched in.
