Aloha mai kakou! I am honored to be invited to this unique event to be held at ki ho'alu master George Kahumoku's hale on the island of Maui!
GEORGE KAHUMOKU PRESENTS A HAWAIIAN SLACK KEY HOUSE CONCERT AND WORKSHOP FEATURING JIM “KIMO” WEST DON’T MISS THIS UNIQUE EVENT! E KOMO MAI-COME JOIN US FOR A DAY OF SLACK KEY GUITAR, FRESH ISLAND FOOD AND HAWAIIAN SUNSHINE. SATURDAY, MAY 17TH AT GEORGE AND NANCY KAHUMOKU’S HALE 555 KAUKINI LOOP AT THE CLIFFS OF KAHAKULOA, NORTH OF WAILUKU RSVP AND INFO: 808-249-2125, 808-280-9948
COME TO ANY OR ALL OF THE DAYS EVENTS:
EVENT ONE “Hawaiian-Style Garden Party” 8am to 10am
Bring your garden tools, gloves and work clothes to work in the Kahumoku Mala or Taro Patch, be prepared to plant plants, help weed, fertilize, harvest fruits and veggies for lunch.
EVENT TWO Jim “Kimo” West -Slack Key Workshop 10 am-Noon
Bring you own chair, guitar, finger picks , capo, bookstands and tape or video recorder. Learn Kimo's unique style of playing Slack Key Guitar.
EVENT THREE Lunch!! Noon to 2 PM
Bring veggies or fruits to make a salad, bring drinks (non Alcoholic,) or desert to share. George will prepare a main dish ( Takamiya Barbeque Chicken and Pork, and Hoisin ribs) Poke fish, Lawalu fish and starch ( Taro, ulu or banana, Basmati rice) make a green salad as well as fruit salad with what people bring to share and what we pick from our gardens. Nancy will bake fresh bread and a pie.
EVENT FOUR Jim “Kimo” West House Concert at the Kahumoku's 2PM -4PM
Bring your own Chair or beach recliner, Sunscreen and/or Umbrella. Concert will be held on the front Lawn Pasture. Special guests, too!
Cost: $20 for the workshop, $20 for the concert, $30 for both.
