Bruddah Duke,
Welcome to the 'patch! It's good to know that folks like you are lurking out there but even better that you decided to jump in and join the ʻohana here. No need to feel inadequate about ʻolelo, computer literacy, or anything else. You're probably the envy of all us mainlanders (if not all mainlanders, I speak for myself.) You live in Hawaiʻi and studied with Ozzie Kotani! You're right that we are all connected by a common love for Hawaiian music. Welcome to the family!
So Wanda is the new Taropatch recruiter, eh? |

Aloha Bruddah Duke, Welcome to the patch. Glad to have you here! Feel free to have a look around and I hope that you will enjoy your stay. We are like one big 'ohana here.

Ah, Duke! Glad you joined the Patch. I was trying to figure out the mystery man with the beautiful music. I thought maybe you were already one of our members, and thusly "accused" Keali`i of being Sir Duke. So much for my sleuthing skills. No wonder I could not figure out who you were -- you were not listed on here. Hah - you fool me, Brah.
Tell Braddah Jay come on, too. He does some great playing on the `ukulele. It sounds so nice.
Welcome aboard, keep playing the great music and putting on You Tube. We like, we like. And make sure to talk story with us. We like jaw-jacking and like listening, too.
Hey - you wen' put my name on that You Tube (and Matt, too!). Hey, you very friendly. Thanks. But more thanks to you and Jay for the great music. More, more, more!
Coming O`ahu May 17-30. Maybe our paths will cross. |

Howzit Sir Duke,
By chance I saw your "Ku'u Kika Kahiko" on YouTube last week and was thinkin', "Who dat guy?" Da buggah so smooth and relaxed--nahenahe to da max. No mo nerves or what? Awesome playing and an impressive list of songs in your repertoire. Would love to see you do "Seabird."
I'm glad to see you hooked up with Ozzie. He's super knowledgeable, incredibly generous, and a gifted teacher--not bad for a guy who doesn't read music (gives guys like me some hope). Unfortunately, I usually only get to see him once a year at Uncle George's Maui workshop. Give him one "Aloha" for me.
Just curious, do you know of any kanikapilas on Oahu? I'll be visiting in June. Keep bussin' em up, brah!
Aloha,
Doug |

naw I tink I stick to my ukulele right now. BUT I got one OLD Martin sittin in her case from back in my I wanna be a FOLK singer days. (read 1965)but have not even tried to play for years SO maybe some time. Right now I strum Ukulele. You BIG DOGS bust it up on Guitars. I sit and Cheer "Hana Ho" when you all finished. I went to Aloha Music Camp and most of the time when I go Kanikapila I enjoyed listening so much I forget to play. |
