Really thinking about friends left behind today. Even though I would rather be In Hawai'i it has to be a little rough right now. Thought those of you with friends on the Big Island might like to know and or see what is happening right now.

The National Weather Service forecasts southeast winds may commence early in the morning. Due to the projected high levels of sulfur dioxide carried by the forecasted winds, the following advisories are issued.

The following communities and areas are advised to expect possible high levels of sulfur dioxide to begin sometime Tuesday morning. The levels may be high enough to cause severe reactions to those in the sensitive groups as well as those in the general population. For your safety, the Department of Health advises that all in the following areas be on the alert and evacuate as a precaution. Color Code PURPLE is now in effect. These areas are:

Mauna Loa Estates
Ohia Estates
Volcano Village
Keauhou Ranch area
Volcano Golf Course Subdivision

Although I am an avid Volcano watcher and Photographer. I do not think that even I would want to be out there right now. But I admire those that have the nerve or lungs to do it. Maybe it is just that I am jealous. Some of the photos that friends have been taking are amazing.

I heard about this 'cause I have a good friend who has a home under construction in Volcano and he's a bit worried right now. He said it may become necessary to evacuate some areas if it gets bad. He's living in Hilo right now but hopefully things will get better in the near future. I guess that's what happens when you live on a volcano!

Aloha,
John A.
