we did one concert all modern music one time at UH - wit da composers listening. i hated it while we did um, but afta a while, da modern music kinda grows on you. you gotta listen to da details, I tink da melody is still dea, but most of da time, it's passed from instrument to instrument. still, slack key is da way to go. :-) i get one recording of da UH wind ensemble playing a piece called serpentine ... da melody kinda snakes its way through da ensemble. it ended up being pretty cool. noting like rap.
