My dad has an old Martin `ukulele with a crack in its back. He and I would be grateful for any suggestions about where on O`ahu he might take it for repairs.

I would have said the same thing. Definitely. Best technician on that island.

Years ago before I moved here, I took a really old and beat up Martin guitar 00016 with a couple of bad cracks, two small holes and some damage from termites to Island Guitars and they repaired it very well at a more than reasonable (to me at least) price. A single crack (if it's tight) should not be a difficult repair.

Aloha,
John A.

Ko'olau Guitar & 'Ukulele Company's website shows them to be in Wahiawa. I could've sworn I was in their shop in Kane'ohe just a few months ago. Did they move just recently, or am I confusing them with someone else?

You're not crazy. They just relocated everything.

Sorry, I'd respectfully beg to differ on this one. Seeing the repair work done around town on ukes and guitars, I'd say Gary Chung at White Harvest Guitars is the best. He's in Kaneohe. I would say Ty at Guitar Works is second.

my $0.02...try giving Harry's Music in Kaimuki a call. Ask for Miles. BTW I wanted to have my Kamaka uke fixed; estimated repair time is 1 year to 1 1/2.
