The final cut was even better than the rough version I saw. I vividly remember the day my brother called to tell me they had won 1st place and overall at the Merrie Monarch. I was so happy as I know they had worked extremely hard for it. I think the film beautifully captures the dedication, love and passion that Kumu Robert and his haumana have for hula. |

Unfortunately, the website of the southern California PBS station does not indicate when or if it will be carried. Too bad for us. (It would be perfect for the class in Cultural Diversity I'm currently teaching at a local private university.)

Cannot find it on our local Cleveland or Youngstown PBS. They musta didn't buy it or whatever they are doing. But they are beggign once again and playing the Best of Do Wop for the kajillionth time. Good thing they finally stopped playing the Peter, Paul & Mary 25th anniversary. I'm going to call them, dad-blame it! They want our kala but never put the good stuff on. I get tired of Sesame Street and those British sitcoms. |

Bah - neither of the PBS stations in the Seattle area have it scheduled...yet. Which is surprising, as they usually air programs of interest to the large Hawaiian/Pacific Islander community around here. |

They aired it in Indy at 3:00 am this morning. I actually hope I might be partly responsible for that. In the past, I have asked my local PBS station to carry Pacific Islander themed programs "even if you only show it in the middle of the night." After hearing over and over that their schedule did not allow for this or that program, I decided to stop supporting the station. The last time they called me to ask for a pledge, I told them that since I didn't feel like they carried programs of interest to me, I was going to donate my money elsewhere. The caller asked for details of my complaint and promised to forward them on to management (and I then agreed to a small donation.) Several months later, we get Na Kamalei...
Then again, coincidence happens. |

Maybe I'm not reading this correctly but doesn't this mean that it's airing on KCTS Seattle on May 12th?

Only on their HD channel, not regular broadcast. |

Do you know how KCTS HD works? Do you need to subscribe to get their HD channel? We have Comcast Digital HDTV service but don't subscribe to any premium channels. |

Hmmm...I don't know the details, but I wouldn't think KCTS-HD would be considered a "premium" channel. Since you get the digital HD service, you should have access to some sort of program guide that lists where to find a specific channel. |

I think/hope Gregg is right... You can access any HD channels through my cable provider as long as you have the converter box that allows you to receive those high channels. (Mine are in the 200+ range.) You don't get the benefits of the HD quality (and you will likely have to watch in letterbox format), but at least you'll get to see it.
