Anybody tried Newtone Masterclass strings?
I read some really good reviews on them, guess I should just try a pair.
Curious if a get a sound boost over Elixir nanowebs.
Is it better to use heavier gauge bass strings to make up for the slack?

I tried them but I keep going back to nano webs. Nanos sound pretty good for a coated string and I havnt found a good enough reason to change yet.
To me, mediums give better tone but they are tough on my fingers so I now use lights.

In my opinion, Newtones are the best of all strings. No question. League of their own.

They're not always easy to get hold of, because demand is so high, but if you can, I'd definitely recommend giving them a try.

There are many reasons, all of which comes down to the way they make them, which is by hand.

Their web site http://www.newtonestrings.com/ gives the details better than I can - it also shows you the various different types that they do, or you can order your own custom set of guages if you like!

Everyone is different. I hated them, but I can't remember why. they're expensive. I prefer Elixir PB nanos.

Interesting stuff! In my country they're not expensive - about the same as other brands such as D'Addario. Over here, Elixirs are waaaay more expensive. Equivalent to $12 for Martins, $14 for Ernie Ball, and $25 for Elixirs! But sure, cost is a factor.

I tried a set of John Pearse a few years ago and never looked back. I've tried about a dozen string brands and gauges and John Pearse sound the best to my ears.
