I have been at the forum for awhile, but I have not yet posted in the "introduce yourself" forum yet. Tell you why in a second.
Name is Brian, live in the Chicagoland area. Checked out this site yeas ago due to my love of all things Hawaiian, most importantly, Hawaiian music. I am a part time professional photographer, my website being http://www.blue-echoes.com , and work full time in I.T. I used to play the guitar, bass, drums, steel drums and trombone years ago, but gave all that up for photography. I have not played a musical instrument in about 7 years, selling my last guitars 3 years ago.
Well, until today. The reason I am posting in this forum?
I bought my first Ukulele!
So yes, I can now fit in here at Taropatch.net! I Look forward to learning from all of you, especially now that I am actually going to play!

Well, here's a warm welcome for your "introduce yourself" post, Brian. Congratulations on the ukulele--you'll love it. If you're in the Chicago area, you might want to keep an eye out for the planned Windy City Uke Fest set for Aug. 1-3. There's not much up on their website yet (http://www.windycityukefest.com/), but I'd mark my calendar if I was in the area because it sounds like it'll be fun. |

OK very good. Glad to have you here with the rest of us uke aficionados. A couple of things however. You didn't introduce your uke. What kind is it...what size. You're a photog so where is da pic??? Did you get a good deal? How come you bought it after selling everything??? Just the facts man. |

Aloha! E komo mai! I just recently got one myself! I'm really enjoying learning even though I can still only play in C. I've only had three lessons so far. I also love singing and playing the piano. |

Thanks for the kind greetings everyone!
Hapuna, I got a Washburn Koa Ukulele, model OU5. Sounds great! I sold all my musical instruments, and ditched all other hobbies I had, and dedicated all my free time to photography. But music will always be in my blood, so I needed something to play. The other reason why I decided to take up the Uku, my wife is 5 months pregnant and we both really want to raise the keiki to have as big a musical influence as possible, amd mostly hawaiian music.
Tonya, I will have to check that out! Thanks for the tip!
RJS, I am a southside Chicagoan that moved to the western suburbs, Glen Ellyn to be exact.
Mahalo to all!
