The roots of the Hula are religious, Tonya:

It's easier to ask for forgiveness, than permission!

As played by Duke, Hokulea used G,Am, D7, and C. I don't know if this song has been recorded or not, only place we know is one of the Iz DVD's. It's hard not to get caught up in it, though.

Oh, I thought you meant this one:

(sings) Hokule'a you are a shining star,
Star of gladness lighting up Hawaiian skies.
High up in the Heavens above us,
Faithfully shine in the night.

Forever shine, Hokule'a,
Shine in the night over Hawai'i.
Forever shine, Hokule'a,
Shine on in history.

I think this is another one you should possibly consider singing to them. Other ones to think about include "Eia Makou (Na Pua O Hawai'i)," "Malama I Ka 'Aina (He Aloha E)," "We Are Family" (by Leon and Malia, not Sister Sledge) and, of course, "Hawai'i Aloha."

If you have any questions, please e-mail me.

Pomaika'i! (Good luck!)

He kehau ho'oma'ema'e ke aloha.

'Alika / Polinahe
