For Immediate Release June 10 2008 ROYAL LAHAINA OFFERS KAANAPALI CONCERT SERIES THIS SUMMER (Kaanapali, Maui, Hawaii) Beginning June 28, 2008, the beach front Royal Lahaina Resort is offering a rare, six-concert series called “Kaanapali Nights,” featuring two of Hawaii’s most accomplished musicians—Eric Gilliom and Barry Flanagan. The Royal Lahaina Resort is presenting these one-of-a-kind events to showcase some of Hawaii’s brightest stars under the stars. Set along the finest half-mile stretch of exclusive Kaanapali Beach, the “Kaanapali Nights” concerts are nostalgic tributes to decades past, when classic Hawaiian performances by duos were prevalent in and around Lahaina Town. According to Gary Hogan, president of Hawaiian Hotels & Resorts, which owns the Royal Lahaina, “We wanted to enhance our guest experience and what better way than bringing award-winning Hawaiian entertainers to the world-class setting of Maui. The concerts promise to be intimate, personal experiences that will be long remembered by those in attendance.” Guests can take advantage of a Dinner and Show Package or opt to only enjoy the show without the dinner. The Show admission is $40 per adult and $20 for children 12 years of age and under. The Dinner and Show Package price will vary by menu selection. Dining and Show reservations can be made by calling 808-661-9119. The dinner will be served beginning at 6:15 p.m. on concert nights at the Royal Lahaina’s open air Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant that overlooks the performance venue with the spectacular Pacific Ocean and Maui sunset as the backdrop. Individuals selecting only the Show Package can relax and take in the entertainment from seating on the expansive lawn near the stage. The Saturday shows will begin at 7 p.m. and feature the talents of Eric Gilliom and Barry Flanagan. Gilliom is half of the group called Barefoot Natives, who were winners at the 2007 Nahoku Hanohano Awards (Hawaiian Grammies) for Best Contemporary Hawaiian Album of the year. Acclaimed recording artist Flanagan is an extraordinary guitar player, multi-Hoku Award winner, Grammy nominee, and founder of the popular group Hapa. Hogan notes, “Through song, hula, and virtuoso slack key guitar, these entertainers will take guests along a musical journey that captures the beauty of one of the world’s most celebrated islands.” The Royal Lahaina Resort completed a $35 million renovation of its Lahaina Kai Tower last year. Each newly refurbished guestroom is island-inspired and features contemporary design with rich, custom-crafted furnishings and modern conveniences, such as plush linens, flat screen HDTV’s, sound system with MP3 player ports, voicemail, refrigerator, central air conditioning, in-room coffee and tea, wireless, high-speed Internet access, and more. The on-site amenities at the Royal Lahaina Resort also include two, oceanfront swimming pools, a tennis ranch, two restaurants, three bars, nightly torch lighting ceremony, oceanfront luau, and complimentary snuba lessons. There are two adjacent golf courses, with snorkeling, shopping, and additional dining, and entertainment nearby.
