My hun-bun is probably too shy to say anything, but, not me! He is playing his first "official" gig for Hawaiian music only on June 20 at John Carrol University here in Cleveland. It is a college reunion -08 (for anyone who graduated in any year with -08). The local hula club will be dancing and Paul will be providing the music for quite a few of the dances, as well as musical interludes while the ladies are changing their costumes. I think parts of the repertoire are:
Ko Ma`i Ho`eu`eu
Ulupalakua
Puamana
Hula o Makee

I'm not certain what he is going to play for the "musical interludes", but I think he plans some with English words so everyone does not get turned off by not knowing the language - so probably something like White Sandy Beach or Hele on to Kaua`i.

Anyhow, I am excited for him, and I am sure he is excited as well. I guess this week I will not nag if he spends lots of time playying guitar.

And just think how many people are going to get a taste of rel Hawaiian music and hula, not the touristy kind of papp. I think there are supposed to be hundred of folks there.

Woo-hoo Hun-Bun!

Me ke aloha
Malama pono,
Wanda

This is an all ages show, as,at least in theory, there could be folks from as far back as the class of 1928, and as recent as 1998. There could be several hundred people in the audience.I can't believe they'll let me in.

I'm sure you'll do fine, Paul. Let us know how it went and perhaps Wanda can take some pics?

Aloha,
John A.

My legs are worn out enough as it is, last time I went fall-downing it was a bad deal for me.
This should go better than that, I hope. It's outside, under a tent, any idea how many gigawatts of amp I need for a circus-sized show? I have a 100 watt amp for vocal/guitar. Hope the Ipu's don't drown me out.
