'Just a heads up about the Windy City Uke Fest, set for Aug. 1-3 in Des Plaines (about four miles from Chicago's O'Hare Airport). It will be at the Tiki Terrace and will feature performers and workshop presenters including Kimo Hussey, Gerald Ross, Abe Lagrimas, Jr., Li'l Rev, Victoria Vox, the Windy City Islanders, Keenan Kamae, Curt Sheller and more. Also vendors (including MusicGuyMic) and open mic stages.
It's a "camp-style" festival experience in that there are three solid days of workshops with evening concerts and kanikapila--all for $95; I think they also have special ohana rates if you're bringing the whole family. If you're anywhere around the Midwest, this is the ukulele event of the year (I haven't heard that Geoff is doing the Indiana festival this fall).
