Mahalo to Ross and Jerry for kicking this off and finding the spot. The location was lovely, the playing was sweet, and I think a good time was had by all.

Having ukes along really made it for me. Sure glad to jumping flea players joined in!!

Ross forgot his recorder, and no one else brought one - auwe! But there seemed to be a fair number of cameras going.

Even though I was not there, the fact that this site helped facilitating your get together is exciting. If you have some place on the web to house your photos, you can use this in your post (without the spaces):

http://w ww.wherever-your-photos-are.com/directory/photo2.jpg

Otherwise, you may email me any photos and I'd be happy to put them up for you.

Fran, you are fast in getting things up. It was really great to see people who contribute to this site face to face, and spend a few hours making music with other slackers. Please was nice and cozy - small room in some ways worked well for me 'cause it "concentrated the energy" (Hey this IS California.)-- And the haupia pie, opps, sorry, wrong topic for that.

Hey, Raymond, it was easy for me to be first online. I think I was probably the closest to home, with only a 45 minute drive. I'm sure glad you were willing to put in the miles to be there, along with the other folks who made long hauls.

Shoot, I sure am sorry I missed it. Both my hubby and I are fighting colds and not only did we not have the energy to drive and play, but we didn't want to share our colds with anyone. So was it grand? Fun enough to do it again?

Aloha, sniff, Julie

Aloha From Maui All!

Hey! Seems like everyone had a Grand Time at Kaleo's! For those of you that did travel long distances, it will be something you'll Cherish forever....it truly shows your Love, and Passion for Kiho'alu....If there was a Major Highway that connected Hawaii to the Mainland.....you know I would have been there at "Kaleo's Cafe" with all of you. Much Mahalo for your Love, and Your Dedication in keeping the fires burning for "Kani-Kiho'alu"......I hope to be able to join all of you one day...as much as I would want all of you to join us here on Maui....For you who have just discovered the joy and beauty of Slack Key,keep learning! Never give up! I use to be one of you too! Take care, God Bless, Good Health and Prosperity! Continue to Perpetuate "The Art OF The Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar" always. A Hui Hou!

Heh Andy,
We all had a great time at Kaleo Cafe and I have 22 pictures taken at the event. I know nothing about posting the pictures as I am a computer dummy. I can email you the pictures but it will transmit slow unless I make them real small. Will that work? Please advise. Jerry

Sulle,

Hmmm, trouble is if you send me small photos, I'll post small photos. I have a decent connection (at least at work) so I don't have any objection to you sending me big files but it may be a major inconvenience to you. Maybe choose a few good ones?

Anyone have any other ideas?

Aloha All!
Mahalo for a wonderful time yesterday at the Kaleo Cafe! It was really great to meet all of you! I learned a lot and I promise I'll be practicing, as I'd like to be more adventurous the next time around.
The Kaleo Cafe had a yummy menu and good coffee. It was easy to drive there and I only had to park 4 blocks away! The weather was gorgeous ~ 65F & Sunny! The little loft had a real nice atmosphere too. Mahalo to the Kaleo Cafe and to Ross & Jerry for organizing everything.
Next time, a bit more space might be nice. Y'all are welcome to gather at my house in Sunnyvale next time. I not sure how centrally located it is for everyone to drive here, though ~ it might be a hoof for some. But I've got a nice backyard and I'm a good cook. How about a BBQ some Sunday afternoon in April or May?
Thanks again for a such fun time! I enjoyed meeting all of you! You're all so talented and free spirited!

Oh, I'm so glad to hear you slackers has such a good time. I wish I could have been there. I'm eager to see the pictures. I'd love to hear the sounds, too, but I guess that's not to be; not this time. Congratulations to all who were able to make it.

Right On, Raymond! I'm flexible about the dates ~ how about April 6 or 13 or May 4 or 18, 2003. Let's see what works for people. Come Summer, I'm going to be too busy to host.

Aloha ahi ahi. . . .
Ah, the melodies are still singing in my ears.. soo much to learn, so little time. Mahalo for all the fine music and fine company. Sure glad I didn't know about the haupia pie, though <G>
Stacey, the next kanikapila was going to be here in Mill Valley, but if you'd like to host the next, it's fine with me. I can't come May 4, and April 27 is the Northern California 'Ukulele Festival, but any other Sunday???

Aloha!
I's just bein' friendly & tryin' to keep the ball rollin'~ sorry 'bout that, Cathe. I left the Kaleo Cafe before many of you so I missed it if a date was set for your place ~ sorry. I thought I'd step up because I unfortunately can't offer to host a kanikapila again til September or October ~ my Summer's pretty booked. I'll gladly drive to Mill Valley. Whatever everyone would like to do.

Wish we could meet in Hawai'i...
