142 Throckmorton is a gorgeous old theater, converted to table seating and just charming as heck. Some TP folks and some from UFO were in the audience, along with friends of Led and Mike and another nice crowd of new fans. We had a couple of younger folks in the audience (sadly, most of the audience is usually a little gray around the edges out here) and they hung around after the show to tell Led and Mike how impressed they were.

The guys are starting to describe some of the new tunes as material for the next CD, which has gotta be good news. The "Force of Nature" CD is a terrific piece of work, and the next one will be propelled by a lot more time playing together. Gonna be fun!!

Noe Valley Ministry in San Francisco has hosted a music series for over 20 years, with from Joan Baez to the Rova Saxophone Quartet to the Waybacks. Like any visit to San Francisco, the first challenge of this gig was finding a parking place but we lucked into one and that set the upbeat mood for the evening. Once again we saw friends from the 'Patch, and old and new fans of Led and Mike. This was the first show to include a dancer, and the audience clearly enjoyed the addition. Since we were playing in church the guys did a very moving "Kanaka Waiwai," trading verses and singing harmony on the ha`ina. Led and Mike are having a lot of fun introducing "Peepayleenay" and getting a big laugh when Led starts the opening lick of "Pipeline."

A sure sign that we were on a mythic journey - no traffic jam at the Bay Bridge on the way home - that's the first time I've seen that in 15 years.

Today we're off to Redwood City for the a free outdoor show, the last of the tour. Looks like I won't be able to play this one, it's a corporate sponsored event (Target Family Days) with no sound check and bands on stage before Led and Mike - no place for an amateur. I'll just be sitting back soaking up the fantastic music by these two great artists.
