Howzit everybody,

We will be in Waikiki on the 17th, so I am seriously thinking about going to the Slack Key Guitar Festival. I haven't been to it before, and only vaguely remember the park with the new bandstand configuration.

If I wanted to get seats up in front, how early should I show up? What is the best side to see / hear the action? What is the best side for shade?

Aloha,

The best place to sit is either to the right of the stage or straight in front. There are
2 big monkey pod trees that provide a lot of shade. The benches to the right will have
shade until late afternoon.Straight in front of the stage will have shade all day &
is usually the focus of the free giveaways they always have like CDs & T-shirts.Since
the music starts at 9am,8-8:15am will usually get you good seats.Right next to the
sound technicians is best.

T'anks, Braddah Duke!

The festival website says that it starts at Noon. I don't think I can be there at 8, but hopefully by 11.
