If I can swap my opera tickets for the next week, I'll be down! Should be easy. I owe my folks a visit, anyway.

Seattle-area folks might want to consider taking the train. About 6.5-7.5 hour ride, less than 50 bucks. No Interstate 5-related driving stress or cramped-from-gripping-the-wheel fingers when you get there.

(Fundraising at KBCS that weekend, I can't go.)

I will. I'll be staying with my inlaws a little ways out of town.

Looking forward to the Uketober Fest this coming weekend. From what I hear, this one's all about fun-- James told me you spend a lot of time in pubs drinking beer and jamming--sounds like it's right up my alley.

I've invited Jack the Slipry One to join me on stage with his steel. Wait until you hear what we come up with. Heck, I can't wait to hear what we come up with... ya gonna make that rehearsal, Jack?

I'm also looking forward to hearing more of James Hill-- Holy Moly! & hearing Brooks do Abby Road... and seeing some old friends and making new ones.

Go ducks.... with ukes!

How ya gonna keep 'em down on the commune, after they've seen Eugene?"

Jealous I is. But - I gotta do my part for Hawaiian music on the radio, by fundraising some more this weekend. (Keaka did his part to help us out last weekend, MAHALO!)

Oh - that, and the gawdawful early morning training hours of the new job I started this week mean that I would probably be asleep the whole time. Slipry1 & No`eau - represent, y'all!

I'm gonna try and make it. It will be a pleasure to be able to actually attend the workshops. Is anyone else driving up from the greater Bay Area? It'd be great to have company. Julie? Tonya? Come on, girls....Road trip!!!!!

AMTRAK? That's a great idea.

I heartily recommend the SMTRAK Coast Starlight that'll bring you from Oakland to Eugene. It's a great trip.

Choo Choo! Choo Choo Choo Boogey!

Got my ticket and I'm on my way. Just can't seem to find any information on how to get from the train station to the motel. (No one is picking up the phone at the train station) Are there taxis? Rental cars? Is anyone else arriving on the train at 12:44 pm on Friday?

Can't wait!

Elaine

Oh, Elaine, I'd love to join you, however you get there. Unfortunately, the only time I could squeeze away was for last Saturday in St. Helena. I'm good to go, though, in non-election years so ask me again if you want someone totally enthusiastic to join you.

I heard the Eugene festival was wonderfully done last year and this one looks to even top that experience. Sigh....why couldn't I have been a CPA? There aren't any ukulele festivals to miss during tax season... (well, except the winter camp...okay, forget that profession, too)...

I know Eugene may seem a tad provincial for you trendy Northern California types with your wine bars and such, but yes, Eugene's got taxis:
