Thanks! I've got a flight to Maui in a couple of weeks-- on United, as it turns out. I'll listen to the tunes on my iPod while I read the story in the in-flight magazine...

...and grumble about the fact that it now costs me an extra hundred and thirty bucks to fly my instruments on their lousy airline.

Yep-- $50 each way for that second checked bag... and $15 for the first! Sorry, but the last time I looked oil prices had dropped below $140.

A while back there was a hoax where an airline advertised tickets based on the total weight of the passenger and luggage. I'd happily do that... b'sides, it would be a great incentive to lose those extra pounds I'm carrying around these days.

Below $95 now, I think.

It's tough out there. I hate paying per bag. I don't like terrible airline food. I hope that the airlines can survive a protracted recession so that we on the mainland can get to Hawaiʻi. I am not really making a point. Sorry, I'm a curmudeon come early.
