Here is from the latest Makaha Sons newsletter. The best news is that Uncle John is feeling much better. Since he has such a big heart, it was bound to heal quickly!!

Brand new (Japanese) CD! In between traveling and taking care of our business, we managed to go into the studio and record a special 20-song hula album for Amuse Entertainment. It is a 2-disc set and comes with a book of lyrics and translations. It will only be available in Japan, and the songs were chosen specifically by kumu hula in Japan.
Update on Uncle John John wanted to thank everyone for your prayers and get well wishes. For those of you who haven't heard, John had a heart procedure done in late-July, and since then "Mr. Personality" has been recovering and getting back to his normal charismatic self. He is doing extremely well...but you don't have to take our word for it. Come and check out the Makaha Sons live and see for yourself!
Makaha Sons love New Hampshire Mahalo to the Savastano ‘ohana and the Reola ‘ohana for taking such good care of us during our trip to New Hampshire last month. Thanks also to Daniel and Lydia Ho, Barry Kimokeo, and Margo Reola, for being such a joy to work with. Photos should be posted soon!
You never know who'll you see at Chai's! We have been very fortunate to play periodically at Chai's Island Bistro. At our last date there, we were surprised by none other than Daniel Ho and Tia Carrere, who came and joined us onstage. Daniel's latest CDs, "2 to Three Feet", "‘ikena" (which features Tia's beautiful voice), and "Spirit of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar" are in the running for a Grammy nomination this year in the Best Hawaiian Album category! The Sons will be back at Chai's in November, on the 11th and 18th.
