Just curious if anyone else attended the Waimea (Big Island) festival this past weekend. I met some great people, had some wonderful instruction and heard some fantastic music. To everyone that showed me the island aloha by including a visitor in their kanikapilas, a big Mahalo! Hank

I was there and had a wonderful time. The Friday night concert featured surprise musicians in addition to those expected: Steel guitar: Bobby Ingano! Ozzie Kotani, Murial Anderson, doing finger-style and harp guitar. For those not able to buy tickets and all of us that wanted more, there was a wonderful free concert Sunday afternoon featuring Cyril Pahinui with Peter Moon Jr., Dennis Kamakahi, Kawika (his son), Bobby Ingano, Gino, Uncle Richard Ho'opi'i and his son plus Murial. Hope I didn't leave anyone out. It was inspirational. Mahalo to Kahilu Theatre for doing it. I highly recommend it. Peter Moon Jr. was incredible backing up Cyril on his ukulele. Young Peter will be a big star.

I went too !
I got to sit on stage Thursday evening in the second row behind all of the Big Name Pros.
I got to meet and talk to them all.
The Friday night concert was fantastic.
Chino Montero was awesome on the guitar.
Bobby Ingano made his steel sing.
I attended workshops by Ozzie Kotani, Benny Chong, and
Cyril Pahinui. They were all very informative.
The Free Sunday concert was a great conclusion to a jammed packed
weekend of music.
Aloha,
Les
