A young uke and guitar player named Kimo, goes St. Louis School -- send me a private e-mail and I've give you his e-mail address or ask Uncle Duke. Kimo complained to me when we met him in May that no one at school wants to play the old music or slack key.

Zack(slackkey808) plays mighty fine guitar. Didn't you meet him at Ozzie's?

You want to play the old kine or more modern music?

And crikey - you've been playing with Uncle Cyril. Thats some nice jamz. Yeah, yeah, I know. He is an old fut, right? Jalike me and all my frirends. Elemakule make an old man.

Why you aint over there at High Ground at the kani wit all our oddah TP `ohana?

Me ke aloha

James Lewis (Kimo). He said Sonny Chillingworth was his uncle.

Too bad you are not here in cold Cleveland. We have twin newphews age 18 who can play guitar, grums and pinano very well. They only know a wee bit about slack key, because Unko Paul has told them about it, but auwe, they play rock & roll kinda Christian religious music stuff. They have a band.

May I tell Kimo to find you at school and get togeddah? I hope he is not intimidated by your name. You got plenty talent on your own, even if nobody knew your last name.

Hey Peter, Zack here (nice meeting you too)

What about Riley or does he play too much stuff u don't want to? Oh and about the Higher Ground thing, it was only me and the Abrigo's that showed up. Sorry nobody invited you, I figured one of the Aunty's or Uncle's here would've told you about it. As far as your request for people to jam with, I'm in the same boat you are, nobody wants to play Hawaiian stuff period (not just old kine but new stuff too). And as bad luck would have it, they love playing Jawaiian. If you've got time on the next two Friday's you can go to Higher Ground from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. and Uncle Led will be playing there. Hope that helps a little.

Slightly off topic --- saw part of the OHA tv program you did with Cyril & Martin and Palani Vaughan; nice playing, youngster! Hope you find other musicians to work with soon - time for you to make your mark on the Hawaiian music world; you won't be in your dad's shadow, at the rate you're going.

Thanks for the comment Retro but I've got a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go lol

To Zack:
Damn Riley's going to Seattle for college so there's really no point. Besides, even tho he's my braddah, he's blindly loyal to his vision of Rock and Roll stardom so much so that he doesn't understand what doors are open for him here. He's wasn't really interested in the invitation of playing with Cyril. O_O So w/e he's still my braddah. Higher Ground this Friday? You going? I'll probably go just to rag on Led XD

Eh, P.M.Jr, get plenny Hawaiian music up here in da uppeer left hand corner of da map.
As for Rock an' Roll visions, "you can't put old eyes in a young head." I guess some want to make product rather than communicate. A good portion of that kine is in marketing. Stay firmly rooted in da trad stuff, you won't know where you're going unless you know where you've been.

Hey Peter, I know Riley's pretty into his rock and roll stuff which is cool but I guess you'd like it if he played a little more Hawaiian music. As you stated he's not just loyal he's "blindly loyal" which is actually pretty impressive for someone our age to do. As for Friday I don't know if I'll go this week, but good chance I'll go next week. If you do go you should have plenty fun because last week he apparently got "drunk" on coffee. He's already pretty hyper as it is so if you combine that with caffeine, well let's just say Aunty Sharon wasn't too thrilled about his behavior and he got scoldings. Have fun jammin out there.

Maybe contact Aldrine Guerrero...if you haven't already. I know he has a lot of connections. Nice kid too. I realize that he plays uke (good geetah too), but he is part of the musical community and networking with him could create an opportunity to hook up with someone with similar musical interests.

What? You mean high "E" is the TOP string. No way dude! That changes everything!

I feel your pain P.M. ... I haven't found anyone my age (28) to play Hawaiian music with either and I have been trying since high school too... lots of rock/reggae/jawaiian offers though... oh well...
