Like Duke was saying, youtube is probably a good place for you to find some guys your age to jam with. Maybe you could put up a video or two of yourself playing and attract some other like minded guys or girls your age.

Aloha Peter,

Lanet Abrigo here. EVERYONE is invited to the kanikapila at Higher Ground Cafe tomorrow, and we'd love to have you join us. I've set it up as a community event, so it's open to all ages and levels. The more experienced musicians take turns choosing songs and playing/singing the lead, and the less experienced play along and get the feel for the music. It's a great way to play together, share your style, and inspire each other.

If you want, we can organize a youth kanikapila with Zack and whomever else you'd like in your age range there. If you come tomorrow I would like to introduce you to the owner of the Cafe and Hawaii Music Supply. Might be a really great thing for you in a lot of ways, Peter. If you like the venue, we can set the youth kanikapila up there. If this sounds good to you, give these things some thought: Do you want it only a specific type of music? If so, we need to identify that clearly, and be sure to promote it with that in mind. Also, what age range are you looking at? 15-25ish? Give it all some thought, and keep your mind open. We can talk more tomorrow if you come.

Mike Keale just emailed me, he'll be there, sounds like Doug Fitch will be there, Kory and Jack from the mainland will hopefully make it as well, and of course, my children will be there.

Aloha until tomorrow,
Lanet and the Abrigo Ohana

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, if you want to see more info about the kanikapila at Higher Ground Cafe, look in the KANIKAPILA forum on the taropatch.net site. Ours is under Kanikapila O'ahu, and was started by abrigoohana.

Two until four p.m. in the afternoon.

Lanette has done a lot of work to organize this opportunity. Now everyone knows about it and we sure hope folks take advantage of the opportunity. Now yallz get your okoles over there tomorrow. Don't make me come over there. (Oh, wait a minute, please do make me come over there).

Peter,, if you show up. probably other young folks will hear about it and take their young okoles over there. And when I said Waipahu, I was wrong, it is Wahiawa.

I know that the coffee shop must have video capabilities because there are plenty of vids on you tube from them.

Aloha Peter,

Zack, Duke, and (I think) Led all have a prior commitment tomorrow (I'll call Led soon and check in), but hopefully they can make it next month. Led plays at this cafe about twice a month, Ernie Cruz, Jr. plays there, and some other good musician too.

Yes, Wanda's right, it's 2 - 4 p.m. in Wahiawa. Here's the link so you can get directions and etc:

http://highergroundhawaii.com/

Last month was our first kanikapila, only Zack, Rich, my family and a few others showed up. This kanikapila is in it's starting stages, just so you know what to expect. It's small now, but we do hope and expect it to grow.

Looking forward to next month!
Our kanikapila at Neeej's started small, but now we have a good group of regulars. Same with the jam we do monthly for breakfast at Kona Kitchen. It started with Jack and me practicing tunes after breakfast. Bernie Simeona showed up, Uncle Danny, Retro and Momi, then Jay and Al and Gary, Jan, Braddah Ace, Norm and Rich (with a newly made ukulele in tow once in a while), and now Peter Tabali, since he moved up to teh north end. Things start slow, but grow. Maintain your enthusiasm.
