We used to take our girls to one of the great Chinese restaurants here in town, Pearl of the Orient, where we could watch the lion dance, as they called it. Was great fun and lots of racket with drums and cymbals. And very good kaukau. And the restaurant guy would have red envelopes at every place setting. But then our little girls grew up......
Ah, but now we have a couple of restaurants that have fantastic dim sum. So now I believe I shall make reservations for when they do the lion dance and get good dim sum, too. I love these things, I don't know what they are called, but very delicate rice noodle, very delicate and white with one shrimp inside, and they pour shyu over top the noodle. And I love the rice steamed inside lotus leaf with quail egg and sausage and tiny chunks of pork ribs and all that good sticky rice. Mmmmmm. And then they get these buns baked with coconut stuff inside. Oooh, Herb, now you got me thinking and I am hungry now. |

I think that's called look fun, Wanda. If the noodles you had are thin but very wide, I'm pretty sure that's what they are. I love look fun. I've had shrimp versions and pork versions, and they're equally yummy. Now I'm ono for them too (even though I had the best sweet/sour chicken in town for lunch today).
I need to go get the red and gold good luck banners for this year. I forgot to replace ours on 12/31, so I need to do it before Lunar New Year. |
