Well, folks. What did Santos Claus (that is what Duke's grand-daughter calls him) bring you for Christmas? Stuff you liked? Or Chia Pets?
I got a digital video camera (Flip) and a new still photo camera and scrapbook stuff and perfume and lotion and stuff lidat, pretty earrings and a set of `ukulele strings. And I also got a mandoline, for cooking with, not playing music with, which I promptly grated off the tip of my finger. Da buggah is sharp, fo realz.
And some little bolo-headed elf sent a box of goodies from Hawai`i -- coffee, jam and jelly and candies. Ono!
Being a card maker myself, I am really happy to get cards from others. Thanks Momi, Jack and Kory. Peter - thanks for the card. Is that water view really behind your back yard? Your wife and daughter are beautiful and you don't look too shabby yourself.
`Oni`Oni got a kitty townhouse, three stories tall with windows and pukas to poke her head through and she loves it.
I have a girlfriend who got me a sweater which is beautiful but the size is medium and I am definitely an XL kinda gal. It is kind that she thinks I am smaller than I am.
Wonder why no one gets Paul the ubiquitous hideous neck tie for Christmas?

Anyone uses my mandolin for cooking with, and I shall probably be quite cross about it!
I got a book by Maureen Lipman, and a DVD by Bill Bailey. I don't think most Americans will have heard of these people, but I'm fond of both of them!
However, my Alison and myself also found ourselves the custodians of a very small, very pesky kitten. As is The Way of The Kitten, she is very cute, but also very pesky. Ah well. |

Kitties make you love them whether you want to or not. You just can't help it. |

Gave myself and my daughter her first trip to Hawaii (and my first in 30 years), just in time for the Oahu blackout. Had to take along the ex-wife for contractual reasons, so it wasn't all fun and games but I'm now free to visit again without her which I hope to do soon. Since my ex isn't into Hawaiian music this trip was under the TP radar but the next one definitely won't be! Stayed on the north side of Kaneohe, right on the water. Beautiful area. |
Craig My goal is to be able to play as well as people think I can. |

Dear Friends, Like most of us, I got lots of goodies, some of which I gave myself, but the best of all was the the gift I was able to give this time a little late. On Jan. 2nd, at UCSF medical center I was able to give Diana's son Greg the gift of life by donating a kidney. I just got home last night and am unable to describe what a wonderful feeling it is to know that someone's life will be better because of you. I would encourage anyone to consider the gift of life as there are so many in need and so few to help. I am at home and feeling great now. Jerry |

Jerry - what you did was unspeakably brave and generous. And you are home already? Wow! We wish both you and Greg speedy and complete recoveries. You are to be specially blessed for making such a gift. That is aloha beyond measure. Thank you for your courage and generosity.
There are more kind and generous people who participate in this Taro Patch forum than could ever be possible in the general population. From folks offering a bit of knowledge and assistance to strangers, or to "hanai-ing" two haole mainlanders, to finding people to kani with, to helping get a Christmas gift to a daughter so far from home at Christmas, I am overjoyed and overwhelmed. And Jerry's selfless gift of a kidney showcases that love and generosity that people attuned to Hawaiian culture have. True aloha must be freely given to be gained. |

I think my makana punahele was this blanket that I keep on our couch. Come to my place, and you'll see why it's so easy to fall in love with. It's the softest thing I've ever felt. |
