I'm planning to go. Please save a spot for me in case I get stuck in traffic like last month.

Happy New Year!

Last month I was sitting and holding my guitar on my knee, with the sound hole facing the performers -- and I looked down and noticed that the strings were vibrating. Putting my ear closer,I could actually hear my guitar "playing" some of the notes that the performers were playing. Just had to share that.

Let's just put that puppy on stage and mic it up. Then you won't have to play. lol

Sympathetic vibrations are a nice way to break in a guitar. Put it on a stand and put on the music. Keola has talked about this in a couple of his classes.

Hope we see you there.

So who's all coming tomorrow? I hope the great turnout last month wasn't a fluke. Bruddah Gary (originally from Nanakuli) was an awesome new performer.

FYI, I created a San Jose Open Mic flier that provides information and a map/directions to the venue. I created it to help spread the word among my network. Let me know if you'd like me to e-mail it to you to pass along to your friends.

Aloha,
Doug

Linda and Kevin have come down with flu like symptoms, so barring an act of God, it looks like I have to pass on this one.

I be close by, so, for what it's worth, I'll be there. I believe that the Sugar Bowl will be on. So, expect a raucous football crowd. Gee, it'll be just like the Elk's Club on Diamond Head when we saw Eddie Kamae and Mike Kaava last month. That'll make any thing we do Authentic Hawaiian...

Unfortunately, I will have to work late tonight again. If I make it at all, it will be pretty late and I will NOT be prepared to play as I have also not had much time to rehearse.

My company gave 15% of it's employees an "extended unpaid vacation" just before Christmas, and while I was not "given" such a thing, those of us who remain now must fill-in for those who have left, so the working hours have increased a little more.
