I just returned from a living room concert given by Angel Romero. (I know this isn't Hawaiian.) I've heard and saw a lot of great players, but I have never heard anyone make a guitar sound like he does. I am completely blown away by the range of tone, color and lyricism. (He does "tricks," too - like play Malaguena with just his left hand, and still make it sound good.)
Anyway -- he will be performing (Concierto de Aranjuez) with the Peninsula Symphony on Friday (Fox) andSat (Flint) -- tickets are cheap and still available. I'm sure it won't be the same as sitting six feet away from him, but it will be good.
