SF Bay Area is usually a good area. Performers have been happy with the Little Fox Theater in Redwood City. Redwood City is fairly centrally located. (The big theater might be too hard to fill unless you're also bringing 2 or 3 headliners.
Santa Cruz area has a few venues - Timmy, you reading? |

Kent Stage in Kent, OH, just south of Cleveland, home of Rock & Roill Hall of Fame. Kent Stage is a small venue, yet nice acoustics. Once long time ago, 2004, was Patrick Landeza & Cyril Pahinui came play. Was our very first live exposure to slack key. Kent Stage has all kind of music not normally in the "main stream" and because Kent is a college town (Kent State University, i.e., Stephen Stills' Four Dead in Ohio) there appears to be an embracing of music that is not the stuff played on commercial radio. Also Kent State has annual or maybe even semi-annual folk festival and get all kind of music, great variety.
Kent Stage has one web site, but mostly for ordering tickets and looking at show calendars. I'll find the url for you. Trouble is nobody seems to want to come here because it is in the middle of a dry zone. There appears to be insufficient interest or lack of promotion or something. Makaha Sons were going to come here and only sold about 75 tickets. Show was canceled. I guess just because Paul and Wanda and our hula sisters like the nusic doesn't make it economically feasible. Plus airfare to west coast is way more cheaper. Over hear it is still about $800 RT. |
