Kala mai - I posted this in 17,0000 other places, but got distracted ("ooo look! something shiny!") and forgot to post here...

Matt Sproat and Kale Hannahs, the talented duo known as Waipuna (“spring water”), drop by the Pakele Lounge tonight for an evening of music and fun! Matt is from the famous Sproat family and specializes in the art of leo ki’eki’e (falsetto singing). He won the 2003 Big Island falsetto competition, was featured in the Aloha Festivals Falsetto Winners Vol. 5 CD, and travels and performs regularly with Kumu Hula Blaine Kia.

Kale, a talented bass player and vocalist, has performed and recorded with many of Hawai’i’s well-known and award-winning musicians, including Napua Greig, Robi Kahakalau, Weldon Kekauoha, Sean Na'auao, Cody Pueo Pata, Aaron Sala, Hoku Zuttermeister, Holunape, Maunalua, and Nä Palapalai. He is a founding member of the award-winning group 'Ale'a, and is also part of the contemporary Hawaiian music group Kalo Patch.....

The duo has a self-titled CD out, currently available in Japan.

Note: the Waipuna dancers will also be performing, as well as a mystery guest. ("Mystery" only in the sense that Kale told me they needed 3 vocal mics, and I forgot to ask who the 3rd person was...)

Join us from 6-8 p.m. in the Pakele Lounge at the Ala Moana Hotel (410 Atkinson Dr.), or watch live online at www.pakelelive.com. Those in Japan can watch at http://www.j-wave.co.jp/

HINT! If you login to the Pakele website early (even as early as 5 HST or so), you might get to see sound check and other stuff that's going on before the show starts - sometimes they go live to test the internet feed...
