Aloha e Auntie Maria...mahalo nui for posting as the marketing has been scarce! This concert series will be fun! I encourage everyone to come out as the cost for the events are absolutely FREE! The only problem people may have will be deciding which GB to attend as they run simultaneously. I highly recommend SF ;) ...All 3 locations will feature 5 Hours of great music and beer! Marriage made in heaven...A hui hou! |

I can't help but wonder what the Hawaiian Teasurers Uncles think about the Hawaiian Visitors Bureau setting up three "free" concerts in competition with their May 13th concert at Yoshis.
I also agree with the blog which suggests that the "1000 reasons to smile" website makes in look like an ad for dental care.
On the other hand, lots of great music coming SF Bay Area side. We should just count our blessings. |

The KAPU LP 104.7 FM road tour went to Gordon Biersch San Jose last night and I can report that Willie K was tremendous with his hawaiian music, opera, comedy, and musical impersonations. He played non-stop for over three hours and I wasn't aware of anyone leaving before the end. The place was filled and the crowd was great. I would recommend GB San Jose as a venue with good service and food. Even that raffle for a trip to the island was easy, none of stuff about submitting a photograph of yourself smiling, intead just filling out the form and stick it in a fishbowl. We took a van to the site and the driver was jolly and seemed to know alot about Hawaiian music. What a start to four Fridays of Aloha. |

The "driver" was disappointed that no loose change fell out of anyone's pockets. What's the sense in volunteering to drive, if you can't score a couple of loose quarters.
Willie K. just put on an amazing display of talent. As Bubba said, over three hours without a break. I even felt a little bit guilty yelling "Hana Hou" at the end, thinking to myself that we were taking TOO MUCH advantage over his enormous display of energy. But I yelled it anyway and so did everyone else. Quite a memorable evening.
Gordon Biersch and The Hawai'i Tourism Authority are doing a great thing, and a great job. |

I only went to the final venue last night in SF. Steven Espanola was a great opening act and braddah get that next CD out. And thanks for drafting Fatih Ako to perform, too. Raiatea. wow and good to see my kumu from Aloha Music Camp. Oh yeah was free too except of course you pay for the drink and ono grinds. Appreciated that reataurant offered special Hawaiian pupu eg poke. Those whom I spoke with and had been to the other shows in SF had similar praises for the other headliners. Mahalo to the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority and Gordon Biersch. |

Hi All: Louise and I went to Friday night in Palo Alto. What a great show. We had to wait to be seated but were able to enjoy Kawika Alfiche and the dancers while we waited outside. The performace was outstanding, especially with the small area for the dancers. Uncle Cyril took the stage and capivated the audience. Dancers from the audience stood up and danced throughtout the restaurant. I talked to some other partons in the restaurant who were brought into the restaurant just because they heard the music. Hopefully Gordon Biersch will make this a regular event. Aloha, Les |
