My brother Ray is a member of the Antelope Valley Guitar Society out in Lancaster (near where the space shuttle lands when the weather's bad in Florida). They meet once a month for jamming, open mic, featured artists from various styles. They invited me and the band O'ahu to show some Hawaiian music and slack-key. If you're out in the high desert, come on by this Sunday April 5th at 2-5 PM
At Mario's Music store 2039 West Ave. K, Lancaster, CA 93536
It went fine, thanks for askin'... We played an hour of samples from our regular set, mixed in with some brief history of slack-key and Hawaiian music & culture. There was 20-25 people there to listen at Mario's Music store...Plugged into several of their amps on display against the wall. It seemed to be well received. I sold one CD! Woo-hoo! Gas money. We were fairly fried (literally and figuratively) from all day at the Cherry Blossom Festival Saturday. Four shows on three different stages, guitars, congos and other gear back and forth. Was a long but fun day... Now back to work. How'd Sunday go for you and Kimo at Cherry Blossom? ( O )====::;
