Andy... Why is it you and a couple others feel so threatened by my invitation? I have done nothing inappropriate. I did not force you or anybody to read my postings or join the group I started. If new members must tiptoe around this group… I really want nothing to do with Taro-Patch.

Don, Can't speak for the others - only myself. Reason I finally pitched in was that all of your posts referred to your own site. That was making me wonder if you are participating in this community or trying to publicize your own site. After I read Andy's posting, I thought he was right and posted my own comment in support.
I would like to be wrong. Participate in some of the other discussions, you'll see that we generally are very welcoming of newcomers and even when we have disagreements, they tend to be "gentlepersonly," at least I hope so. Raymond San Jose |

Aloha BaZerklY,
If your goal is a site to promote local Bay area slack key playing and a message board for local meeting plans, then I applaud your intentions although I think this board already admirably serves the purpose.
There are many, many guitar centered discussion boards on the net, and a large population of guitarists to support them. IMO, one more general purpose guitar board won't affect the quality of participation and information on the others. The population of slack key players is much smaller. Again IMO, there are not enough active slackers on the mainland who are also active web users to support two general purpose slack key sites. If active, posting members are drawn away from this site then the knowledge pool is significantly reduced.
I want to protect this site. As a general purpose slack key site, it is a valuable and unique resource. Unless and until slack key becomes a much more popular form of music on the mainland, I feel this site should remain unique, singular, one of a kind. I don't think it is large enough, active enough to bud off daughter sites without lessening its value. My impression was that you were also trying to build a general slack key site in competition to TaroPatch.net and trying to draw members away from this site. That is why I made my somewhat snide and unfortunate post.
P.S. Old enough to be my father? That would make you very long in the tooth, indeed.

Aloha all,
I realized this morning that I should have taken my questions offline yesterday instead of stirring up controversy here.
Hopefully, Don (BaZerklY) will decide to hang out a while so that we may all get to know him better. More people brings more opinions, stories, questions and answers... which means more fun, yeah? |

Relax, relax, take a deep breath, think of good things, ooooooooooooommmmmmmmm. Words of wisdom from one of Hawaii’s top song writers, the late Kui lee, “ Ain’t do big thing Brada” . The right to read, post and reject opinions is the essence of the internet and should be tolerated. Frankly , I find these posts kind of entertaining. |
