Lynette and I have really been blessed from wedding day all the way through the honeymoon... still have 4 days left.

So much to write about, but I'll write about what is freshest in my mind.

What a pleasure it was to "kanikajammapila" with slackkey Bill, Reid & Sarah, David & Kitty and the famous Uncle Sol. You all truly added to making our time in Hawai`i special. We mainlanders do not get enough opportunity to kanikajammapila, and I felt it showed. I need some more time to find my way around to really kanikajammapila. What a great time it was though!

Kitty and David - thanks for a wonderful dinner. You guys are great. It was so nice spending time with you both outside of camp. Pono is one smart dog. Wish we could have stayed all night, but the 3am wakeup to go see Haleaka had us ready for bed.

On another note, don't let Bill fool you. He says he's a beginner but the reality is that he plays beautiful ki ho`alu. He played circles around us during kanikapila, and he has the ear to arrange songs (traditional or contemporary) in taro patch tuning. On top of that, he's just one great guy to hang out with. It was a gift to hear you play, Bill! Hope we can do it again sometime.

Aloha from Lana`i where things are really quiet. Vegging out here...

Andy

Ps. Reid and Sarah - we'll see you again on the east coast soon. Thanks for coming out to party with us!

But I really am just a beginner!

Eh Aloha from Maui to you and Lynette on Lana'i! How's the weather on the Pineapple Island? The pleasure was indeed mine Andy....You are truly a great "Slacker", and your styling's really reflect that. You're ability to catch-on to what you've learned during the "Slack Key Workshop" on the Big Island, and as quickly as you did, is something you should be very proud of....

You totally blew me away when you played Keola's new unrecorded song
"Milkyway". "He Punahele" you played just as well as Keola Too! For me to play "He Punahele", I would have to go back to watching Keola's Instructional video. For one "Slacker" in New Jersey...You go Brah! You the man! What I would give to be as good you! We really had a great time "Kanikajammapila" with Reid, Sarah, Kawika and Uncle Sol huh?

Mahalo plenty for showing up when you did! I still can't believe I actually kanikajammapila with TaroPatch.com's Admin! You really made my day at "Bailey House". I am very, very pleased to have met you and Lynette. All of us sharing the passion of "Kiho'alu" will be a moment I will not soon forget...I only wished our "Kanikajammapila Session was video-taped. But hey.....Being there with all of you is just as great.

Well, the time at this very moment is 12:52 a.m. Yup! It's like I no sleep huh? Ha! ha! ha! But it's still early. Andy...I too hope that some day we'll be able to get together again, and "JUS PRESS"!!!!! It has been an honor to Jam with you. Keep on doing "Kiho'alu"! Let us together keep "Kiho'alu alive and well!

"Sarah and Reid....much mahalo to you both too for making our Maui Style Kanikajammapila Session extra sweet and wonderful! All of you have made Uncle Sol especially Happy....."

"Kawika! I'll see you when I see you! And yes we should try and get Bailey House Slack Key going again. BTW! How did the recording come out?"

Andy and Lynette...enjoy the four days you have left here in the Islands! Hey! Catch some of those beautiful Sunsets and Moonsets that Hawaii has. Then again, maybe you already saw them! I Love you Guys, and I'm already missing all of you very much.

Sarah and Reid have a safe and pleasant journey back to Connetticut (spelling). I called Kawika's place, but you and Reid were staying in the Westside. He gave me the number where I could reach you. But it was starting to get busy at work, and I never got to make the call.

Andy, Lynette, Reid and Sarah....Take care, God Bless, Good Health and Prosperity.....Above all else, remember to "JUS PRESS"!!!!!! A Hui Hou!

Aloha gang,

I'm glad we could all get together at the Bailey House gazebo to play some slack key and share the Aloha spirit. Uncle Sol really loves to hear Hawaiian music being played by students both new and old. This way the music will live on.......

How'zit from Paia Kawika!

I couldn't agree more....For all of us "Slackers" to perpetuate the Nahenahe Style of "Kiho'alu, we each must do our part to keep it alive and well...be it here in the Hawaiian Islands, Connetticut or in New Jersey!

I too enjoyed our "Kanikajammapila Session at "Bailey House" especially with Uncle Sol there to lead us, and teach us too at the same time! I Love "Kiho'alu with a great passion, and Love it six more with all of us sharing our different styles with eachother...

Until we meet together again, and "JUS PRESS"....A Hui Hou!

Aloha kakou,

We just got back to chilly, rainy CT, yesterday. What a shock! We slept for about 12 hours in 4 hour intervals, too. From the getgo - from O`ahu to Maui, everything was just unbelievably wonderful. Sarah's word for it was "thrilling".

If they can put a man on the moon, they ought to be able to move CT closer to HI. I figure that it should be placed about half way between SFO and OGG. Of course, I would make sure that the cars and people and strip malls got left behind in MA where they belong.

More later - after more sleep and catching up on chores.

Reid

Good evening Reid!

The time right now (and a day late) is 10:00 p.m. I'm very happy both you and Sarah made it back to CT safely. I really miss you guys! How long was your flight back home? Yikes! How wet and chilly was it? We had some rain too, just enough to water the ground and our lawns. BTW! I tried to get an e-mail to Sarah! Unfortunately my computer told me the address is no longer!

Did you get "Da Kiho'alu Connection 2002" that I sent to all the Slackers of whom I have their e-addresses? I just thought I'd include all of you too....Like I said, it's just a place where myself kihoalu and the rest hang-out, and correspond with eachother. It's a fun place to be!

Oh-ri-dee-den.....You and Sarah take care, God Bless, Good Health and Prosperity! Above all else hang-out, kick-back, relax, and "JUS PRESS"!!!!!! Miss you guys! A Hui Hou Malama Pono.....

Aloha Awakea e Bill!

Oh boy, do we miss being on the islands already! It's a different world here. Miss all you guys and the wonderful kanikapila. It was so great to meet up with you again, Bill -- and we're so glad you were able to get time free to come to the jams, all of them -- that was such fun.

I'm back at work for three days now. Our flight actually was pretty short compared to other times, partly because we had a direct flight, and we must have had good tailwinds. Air time was only 8 hrs and 45 min. We were really surprised. Usually it's at least 10 hours -- direct flight or not. The waiting in the airports at Kahului and Honolulu was long, though. Thank goodness the Honolulu airport has that lovely garden to help pass the time in.

And when we got back it was in the 50s and raining. Went down into the 30s at night. BRRRRR! And today is the first day of sunshine, by the way, but it's still chilly.

E Bill, try my email again. It *should* work. It's listed correctly and it's my only one!

me ke aloha,
Sarah
