JSulle told me about the Taropatch site at the Kahumoko workshop last year. Hey thanks Jerry. Which reminds me, are you attending the workshop again this month? Will you have a chance to join us at the Waihee kanikajamapila? |

I took a left at Google, fell asleep at the mouse, and smashed right into the place. What a site that was, let me tell you! |

I clicked AG on your poll, but it was Russell Letson, I'm sure, who posted about it. That's in the dim, dim past - more than a year ago. |

i still have andy's invite buried in a backup mail file:quote: I wanted to share with you my newly launched website, the "TaroPatch Network," dedicated to the art of Hawaiian slack key guitar. It is my hope that the site will become a helpful resource to those seeking to learn ki ho`alu and a place for slack key students, fans and enthusiasts to congregate in cyberspace... a place to share music, song and aloha. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.
this was in a message in which andy revealed george jr.'s secret vice of ordering dessert first.
thanks for the great times, andy! |

Aloha Ed, I am not sure about the kanikajamipila but yes, I will be at the workshop this year with my sweetie, Diana (dfpet) and we are very much looking forward to it. See you soon, Jerry |

The "I have no Idea" response might just become part of the Taro Patch language (tho it wasn't my response in the poll). Did you notice on a Gabby cd where he is interviewed by Dave Guard, Gabby's response to several questions was, "I have no idea". It sounded so relaxed and natural comming from the master. Jake |

John told me about it. (jwn) He mentioned I should check out TaroPatch, and I had to ask what the hell was that?
In all fairness, within a couple of hours, Cathe, (catheglass) and Julie (Julie Hendriks)also told me about it.
This was last year while at Mark and Keolas Aloha Music Camp.
With a bit of checking, I found most of the folks sI had talked to had some knowledge, or were sworn members in this forum.
In a nutshell, some of my fondest memories of that place are walking out of my room and hearing John Nelsons' swayingly beautiful notes drifting across the grounds. He's sitting in a wicker rocking chair playing his music, I had to just sit and listen. Or listening to Julie demo her Gratziano (sp?) Pineapple Uke for me while we were waiting for one of Keoki's sessions to begin. And walking across that beautiful lawn, Late again, on my way to sit in on Mark's class, when theres Dusty, (wdf) sittin' under a mango tree playing for himself. Again, I had to stop and listen. Some things are too good to pass by.
Those folks and countless others have shown me what aloha means. For that, I will be grateful always.
They all mentioned TaroPatch, where you can always connect with that Aloha, in some manner.
To me, that aloha is the reason for being. On all levels, at any time.
Thanks Andy. This is always my surrogate home whilst accessing the internet. I just like the kind of people who are drawn to this site.
With aloha,
Mike |
