Bought my ticket yesterday! My third year attending Makaha Sons Christmas Concert. Always a wonderful performance with beautiful Hula! |

One of the best. Mary and I have made about a dozen of Tula's Makaha Sons shows and this one ranks up there. Not perfect because Uncle John Koko didn't make the trip due to recurring heart issues but just the right mix of Hawaiian and Christmas music (especially Frank Hewitt's Christmas tunes). Short (4-song) set from Keali`i Reichel was welcomed. It's nice to see him just sit and sing and play without all the entourage. An unexpected addition was that Frank Hewitt was in the house, in San Diego on business. The guys got him to come up and dance a couple of numbers. This was special. A sell-out too. Way to go Tula. |

Mahalo for the kind words. It was an magical evening, a brillient blend of Hawaiian Music, Hula, and Christmas all wrapped im to one great show. We missed John but I'm so happy he is on the mend. The plan is for him to come to Whittier.
I hope you will come next year, we are already planning!
Hugs, Tula |

Just out of curiosity, why are hula dancers now called "stylists"? Conjured up images of ladies doing the hula in a hair salon, and for me, it takes away from the dignity and history of the hula message.

I'm not sure why. I'm thinking it's because they bring a unique performance style to each number they dance.
