Hulaville is proud to announce that John Keawe is joining the Hawaiian Concert Series for a special brunch concert on October 9th from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
John Keawe is a Grammy and multiple Na Hoku HanoHano award winning slack-key (Kiho`alu) guitarist, composer and recording artist whose music is infused with the spirit of Aloha and is reflective of many elements personal to him. John performs regularly at various locations on the Big Island as well as other venues throughout the Hawaiian islands and mainland. In addition, he has recorded several albums, bringing Hawaiian slack-key into the homes of people from around the world.
His latest CD, "Play With Me Papa" won a 2011 Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Slack Key Album of the Year. Says John, "Through the years, I’ve enjoyed writing songs about many different subjects and “hopefully” have learned how to better craft a song. People sometimes ask, how would you describe your music, what style is it or what audience are you trying to target? To be truthful, those thoughts never enter my mind. I don’t try to analyze my music or question it. I’m just grateful that the Lord provides these thoughts and ideas and makes them accessible to me. I write what I feel in my heart and what I hear in my head."
Tickets are $23.00 per person. Reservations are required. Call 949 369 1905. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. for ala carte brunch.
