This week on Pakele Live! with Tony Solis we’re hosting a CD release party for singer/songwriter Kainalu Busque, with special guest Kapono Naʻiliʻili.

Kainalu's childhood was filled with music, both from his dad playing the guitar and from the vast record collection that was frequently playing in the background. As his passion and taste for music grew, so did his hunger and curiosity.

Kainalu's unique style can be attributed to a diverse number of influences, including James Taylor, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, John Mayer, John Cruz, Country Comfort, Cecilio and Kapono, and Ernie Cruz Jr., among others. With every warm strum of his guitar and soulful song he sings, his heart comes through to touch his audiences.

In the summer of 2010, Kainalu began the process of recording and producing his all-original, self-titled debut album. He continued to work on the recording process for the next year, in addition to starting an independent record label (MellowSoul Records – which perfectly describes his music) and playing regular gigs like Pau Hana Fridays at the popular Dave and Busterʻs. Recording was completed in July 2011. Now available in digital format on iTunes, it will be released in CD format on September 13.

Kapono Naʻiliʻili will play a special solo set to open the show, and will also join Kainalu and his band for their set. Regular Pakele Live! viewers will recognize Kapono from his appearances with his band Ke Kauoha the Jazz Project, as well as Kuana Torres Kaheleʻs band and the Pali band.

Join host Tony Solis for Pakele Live! on Thursday, September 8 from 6:30-8:30pm HST at the Willows Restaurant (901 Hausten St., Honolulu). Those who are unable to attend can watch the live stream at www.pakelelive.com. (The show will also be edited for television and shown at a later date on OC16 TV and www.oc16.tv)

Admission is free and all ages are welcome. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Doors open at 5:30.) Guests may choose from the full nightly buffet ($34.95) or an a la carte menu created especially for Pakele Live! (and available only during the show), with prices ranging from $5 to $16. Drink specials are also available. Validated valet parking is only $3.

Note: If you watch online, don’t forget to email the show at pakele @ lava.net and let us know you’re watching! Mention your name and where you’re located - city, state – or country, if outside the U.S.!
