i just was wondering in theses times when economy, war, raping pillaging and just things NOT PONO going on in the world, that music lifts up the good, sending a positive message and vibe. That in these times musicians, artists, poets, in fact EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE A ROLL SMALL OR BIG to share and spread PONO. what u think?

Yes, that it is a great message to share.
This may not help word peace, but I would like to suggest giving time to elderly care facilities in your area. Many of the residents are living the remainder of their lives in quiet desperation, forgotten by the outside world and rarely visited. One day we should all be so lucky to have a musician care enough to entertain us.

Shirley and I do this 3 Saturdays a month, and it is very gratifying. We try to mix up the music so they can sign along with us on a few songs. We always leave them smiling, and they do the same for us.

You caught me after I finished one of my home-brews, dr. cookie.
But, yes... I am very lucky to live in Hawaii!

Kona Bob
Three a month is above and beyond. Thats a buch. My props to you for that. I do only one a month but it is very rewarding.
Not only is it good for the lonely residents but it is also a great proving ground for performing. In fact I am not sure who has been the most rewarded ...them or me.

Bolo you so very wise for such a young man. Slack key music is indeed good for these times as it truly does help relax a person, bring down the blood pressure and put you in a general good mood. The best way to spread pono is to be pono.

Bolo, try doing what I did: stop watching the news. There has always been war, but it's only in the last little while people figured out how to make money selling bottles of ketchup from it.

Don't let em jerk your emotions around, leave it alone! You're living in Kona man, you don't need the rest of the world screaming for your attention! And yeah, always make music of course, for no other reason than that it's the best thing humans ever came up with. :)

It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

A couple of months ago I changed my morning routine. Rather than spend about 90 minutes reading 3-4 newspapers on the 'net, I read very selectively for about 20 minutes, and then pick up my nylon string guitar and play. The results are I'm happier, more grateful for each day (mahalo Keola), and a little sharper when I get to the office.

Shirley and I got rid of cable TV and started using Hulu Plus and Netflix. We also got rid of our home phone, as we always have our cell phones with us. We are saving $90/month and our TV time has dropped to about an hour per evening.
Mike hit it on the head. TV is not about truth, its about making bucks. The best way to make bucks is to get your client addicted to something: Nicotine, or the feeling of anger, fear, or self-rightiousness.
Hawaiian music is probably one of the best antidotes for TV news. Let the healing begin!
