Three days of “The Sound Of The Steel”, a Maui Namesake and highlight of the season.
The Theme will be “Century of Matson Boat Days & Aloha Tower, Featuring the Hawaiian Steel Guitar”
Showcasing Maui’s own Fred and Earnest Tavares, past Legends of the Steel.
Including scripts and vignettes of Boat Days @ Aloha Tower in song and dance!

Guests @ Artists: Senator Brickwood Galuteria, Honorable Mayor Alan Arakawa, Showman Kimo Kahoano, Alan Akaka & his Islanders, Danny Akaka Jr., Greg Sardinha and Trio, Japan: “Lion” Kiyoshi Kobayashi, California: Duke Keolani Ching, Gordon Frietas and many more. Cameo by Henry Kaleialoha Allen Concert.

April 20-22, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Friday, April 20, 12:00 noon-
Hotel Lobby is Host to all visitors and artists checking in. Live music in Lobby, Enrichment Hosts to greet and give out programs for that night and weekend.
Courtyard tent will host the Tavares family and ongoing video of Earnest and Freddy Tavares, and Host/Emcee to enrich guests.
Video of Henry Allen’s work and dedication to this instrument in photos and shows.
“Hawaii’s Golden Era of the Cruise Ships and the Steel Guitar Bands”- Hosted
Opening Ceremonies at 5:30
Introductions: Dignitaries, Hosts.
Hawaiian Steel Guitar music and Hula dancers until 9:00pm.
Jam Sessions in Plantation Room 9:15 on

Saturday, April 21, 2012
10:00am Lobby Hosts & Enrichment. Meet the artists, “Talk Story” events with each.
Hawaii’s Boat Days with the “Ships of the Matson lines in Hawaii” What role did the Cruise ships play in bringing tourists to Hawaii then and now? Johnny Alameida sailed.
10:00am Courtyard Tent: Hawaiian steel Guitar building Camp hosted by Dr. Neil Scott.
This will be a “hands on” opportunity for all who wish to participate.
Tavares family presentations, Matson Cruise Ship History with the Steel Guitar.
Henry Allen will be in Lobby to discuss Hawaiian Music with the Steel guitar and meet, greet and answer questions.
Steel guitars will be on display and demonstrated.
PowerPoint and video presentations for the Steel Guitar, Henry’s shows and famous players ongoing.

1:00pm Highlight: “Kanikapila” with guest musicians/artist all afternoon with Hula dancers continuous until 4:00pm.
5:30 Opening Ceremonies (Recognitions of Supporters)
6:00 Ukulele band, Samuel Kalama Intermediate School 100 cast under direction of Benny Uyetake to open up pre-show Concert with selected songs.

6:30 Black Out, Conch Shell procession and Fire Torches, Chanters, Exotica

10:00Am Lobby will be hosted by Enrichment Staff and displays of Hawaiiana, Hawaiian Art and Music and Culture.
Tent will host Dr. Neil Scott and guests with ongoing Hawaiian Crafts and painters.
10:00pm. Hawaiian Music trios and guest Hula dancers on stage. Hawaii’s “Boat Days” continues with song and dance, hosted.
Closing Ceremony at 1:00pm for all on stage, Photo opportunity for all and guests.

Ongoing all days: Maui’s talented and gifted artists in work.
Crafters in unique settings with fresh made products for display and sale.
