This week on Pakele Live! with Tony Solis we’re excited to host John Feary for the first time!

John grew up in Palolo Valley and began learning to play the ʻukulele from his grandma at age 13. He continued to learn and enjoy playing the ʻukulele throughout his years at Kaimuki High, and, with his group, won the prestigious high school talent competition “Brown Bags to Stardom” in his senior year. His uncle, the late Mackey Feary (from the award-winning group “Kalapana”), gave guitars to John and his entire band and told them to follow their dreams.

John was an entertainer with Tihati Productions for 17 years, which afforded him the opportunity to travel on both the Norwegian Cruise Line (Pride of Aloha, Pride of Hawaii, and Pride of America) and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (Radiance of the Seas).

Since leaving Tihati he’s played at a number of venues, including the Hyatt, Sheraton, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Hale Koa, Outrigger Reef, the Mai Tai Bar and more. He can also be found playing at Big Kahuna’s Waikiki three times a week.

John has released four solo albums (one is a Japan release only), including his new one “Old Kaimuki” – his first since suffering a life-threatening brain hemorrhage in 2009. His songs have also been featured on at least a half dozen compilation albums, the most recent being a brand new release entitled “Hawaiian Style Love Songs.”

Please join host Tony Solis in welcoming John to the Pakele Live! stage on Thursday, March 1 from 6:30-8:30pm HST at the Willows Restaurant (901 Hausten St., Honolulu). Those who are unable to attend can watch the live stream at www.pakelelive.com. (The show will also be edited for television and shown at a later date on OC16 TV and www.oc16.tv)

Admission is free and all ages are welcome. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Doors open at 5:30.) Guests may choose from the full nightly buffet ($34.95) or an a la carte menu created especially for Pakele Live! (and available only during the show), with prices ranging from $6 to $16. Drink specials are also available. Validated valet parking is $3.

Note: If you watch online, don’t forget to email the show at pakele @ lava.net and let us know you’re watching! Mention your name and where you’re located - city, state – or country, if outside the U.S.!
