Hey thanks Andrew for creating this wonderful site. I just accidently came across it looking for Haunani Apolinia out of print Album. I dont play much these days but my dad used to own a music store in Honolulu. It was called Sharps and Flats. It was downtown when things were hopping. A lot of the musicians like Auntie Genoa, Auntie Vi Lilikoi, Gabby, use to come in and buy strings and test the Martin ukes. I used to sit outside the bars they used to play and they would come in and jam in my dads store on Bethel Street than on Nuuanu. Those were great times. I sold the Star Bulletin downtown and had a corner on Fort and King. Late at nite people would just dance and sing on the street. My best friend was Imaikalani Kalahele (Snake) and we hung out together and played music. When I moved to LA to pursue my career I went into Classical and then studied with John Collins in LA who was part of the Nat King Cole trio. I was into Jazz then. But still have the love for Hawaiian music. Recently learned the lyrics to Nani Kauai and if anyone has any sheet music for playing please let me know.
Oh thank you ricdoug. By the way as long as we are introducing ourselves. I am in the new Men In Black 3 movie. Im the only guy with a Hawaiian first name.
Just finished another flic with Al Pacino and Christopher Walken. Called Stand Up Guys. Another comedy where I get the hell beat out of me. Good thing I went to Roosevelt High. Got a lot of experience there.
