I'm sure many of us have used similar for emergency pics. Ric

Innovative way to recycle.

But $25 would buy me a LOT of picks.

In the UK, these are about £20, which would be about US$31.
Picks (plectrums/plectra) retail for about 60 or 70 pence, or about one US dollar.

I was seriously thinking of getting one of these puncher machines, as I’m primarily a plectrum style player, and use them on guitar and mandolin.

Only trouble is, they’re only good for materials up to about 1mm in thickness. I only use plecs that are between 1.5mm and about 5mm, so they’d be no use to me. In the past I’ve used old bank cards, and the old style ‘phonecards’ that we used to have in the days before everybody got mobile phones. They’re OK, but I find them a bit too ‘clicky’, and they shatter.
For mandolin, I prefer 1.5mm celluloid ones. I normally buy them locally, but recently the shop I went to did not have any. I found on the internet a site where I could buy 100 of them for £10 (about US$16). Seeing as I use up about four a year, I should have enough to last me for the next 25 years! Nontheless, I think the puncher is a great novelty item.

I know - quite a lot of money for a tiny piece of plastic. The bulk-buying trick reduces the cost to approx. 16 cents. How much are they usually in America?
